UHP Water Jetting in Ayrshire
A1 Mobile Blasting
UHP Water Jetting Specialists
A1 Mobile Blasting is proud to offer ultra-high pressure (UHP) water jetting across Ayrshire and the west of Scotland, a powerful, abrasive-free alternative to traditional blasting. Using pure water at 30,000+ psi, we strip paint, rust, antifoul and industrial coatings without grit, without heat, and without the mess. It’s a cleaner, smarter option for marine and industrial projects where every detail matters.
What Is UHP Water Jetting?
Ultra-high pressure water jetting uses a concentrated stream of water at 30,000+ psi to remove tough coatings, corrosion and contamination from a surface. Because it uses water alone, there’s no abrasive media to recover or dispose of, no silica risk, and far less disruption to the surrounding area. The result is a clean, profiled surface ready for recoating, without the downsides of grit-based methods.
- Strips Paint, Rust & Antifoul
- No Abrasive Media
- Minimal Waste & Clean-Up
- Ideal for Enclosed or Sensitive Sites
Where UHP Water Jetting Works Best
UHP is a specialist option that shines in specific environments, so we focus our service on the two sectors where it adds the most value: marine and industrial.
For marine customers, whether you’re a private boat owner, a working yard, or a commercial operator, UHP is an excellent way to strip antifoul and failed coatings from hulls, keels and decks. It’s also well suited to steel and aluminium deck work, propellers, shafts and fittings. Because there’s no abrasive media involved, there’s no grit left in the yard, no risk of contamination in the water, and the substrate stays cool throughout the job, which helps protect thinner hulls and GRP. Where heavier steelwork needs a more aggressive approach, we can still step across to traditional marine blasting as part of the same visit.
For industrial sites, UHP is the right call when abrasive blasting isn’t practical. Live plants, enclosed spaces, silica-sensitive environments and jobs with strict clean-up requirements all benefit from a water-only process. Typical work includes structural steelwork, tanks, vessels and pipework, plant and machinery, and coating removal on occupied sites where dust and grit would cause real disruption. For more traditional preparation jobs, see our industrial blasting page.
UHP vs Traditional Blasting
UHP water jetting isn’t a replacement for blasting, it’s a complementary option. On heavy structural steelwork or deep mill scale, abrasive blasting is usually the faster, more cost-effective choice. On sensitive substrates, in enclosed environments, or where waste management is a priority, UHP often wins.
